Featured Pattern: The Hedgerow Book Bag

Ah, the Hedgerow. We originally envisioned this bag as a quick and easy introductory project for beginner bag makers. But when I made up my first sample in waxed canvas, I have to tell you that I fell in love! The Hedgerow is nothing fancy, but with its perfect proportions, useful pockets, and easy style, this bag is a keeper!

What makes the Hedgerow so great? Well, for starters, it's a quick and easy make for the more experienced bag maker, or the perfect project for the beginner. Even with its simple design, the bag has some great details to help beginners build their skills. The bag is fully lined, with a generous facing that helps the bag keep its shape. The exterior features a lined, divided pocket that can easily be customized. The bag closes with a magnetic snap, and features a simple but sturdy webbing strap. Made up in one of our beautiful waxed canvas fabrics with an Eco Twill lining, this bag is tougher than your average tote. It is just right for trips to the library, an evening class, a knitting circle, or the park. We really can't think of anyone who couldn't use a Hedgerow in their life.

In honor of this wonderful bag, we will be hosting a Sew Along on the blog that will include step-by-step instructions, photos, and videos to help you make your Hedgerow.
