While I strongly believe that the Bramble Bag is the Perfect Everyday Bag for most people, my personal everyday carry is the Chamomile Tote. As the mother of a two-year-old, the Chamomile is sized for those of us that need a bit more hauling capacity. At any given time, I might need to carry a diaper bag, water bottle, snacks, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, wallet, keys, phone, checkbook, sweatshirt, bug collector, and a ribbon wand. Not to mention the random accumulation of trash that seems to be an inevitable part of my life. So yeah, I need a big ol' tote to fit it all.
The Chamomile holds all of my necessaries beautifully. The outer pockets are perfect for my phone and keys, while the interior pockets hold a water bottle and all the other little stuff that would otherwise be floating around in a scary way. I can even carry my laptop in a pinch. The wide, sturdy straps of the Chamomile keep it comfortable even when fully loaded, and the top zip means that I can keep curious little fingers OUT (for a little while longer at least).
The point is, I love my Chamomile, and if you are looking for a nice roomy tote, I can guarantee that you will love yours too! We made the pattern with two versions, so that anyone could make it, no matter their sewing level. Version A has some more advanced details, including a nifty 2-in-1 outer pocket, an elasticized interior pocket for a water bottle, and an exposed top zipper.
Version B is simpler, with a single lined outer pocket and a magnetic snap closure. The shape of the bag is the same as Version A. Version B is a great beginner project, or a very quick project for a more experienced sewist (ie. a great gift idea, because who doesn't want an awesome tote??)
