The McGregor Field Tote PDF Pattern
The McGregor Field Tote is a fully lined mid-sized messenger-style bag that is the perfect companion for your next adventure. The bag features an adjustable webbing strap, a generously sized flap closure with sewn-on webbing detail, metal hardware closures, an exterior divided pocket, an interior divided pocket, and an interior zippered pocket.
Skill Level: High Intermediate/Advanced
Finished Dimensions: 12” wide x 11” tall x 5” deep
Please note: this bag requires sewing through multiple layers of thick fabrics and requires a sturdy sewing machine in good working order.

This pattern will be emailed to you. This pattern includes detailed instructions for assembling the bag. There is one pattern piece to cut out that is included in the PDF file.
Outer Fabric: 3/4 yard 60” wide heavy weight fabric such as waxed canvas, canvas, or denim. Look for fabric that is at least 10 oz weight. If your fabric is narrower than 60”, purchase an additional 1/4”.
Lining Fabric: 5/8 yard 54” wide medium weight fabric such as twill or canvas. Lighter fabrics can also be used, but will need to be interfaced.
Hardware and Notions:
- 2 1/4” yards 1 1/2” wide light to medium weight cotton webbing
- 3 x 1 1/2” Double-loop/ tri-glide slider (rounded or rectangular)
- 2 x 1 1/2” swivel hooks (also called bolt snaps, push-gate hooks, and trigger hooks)
- 2 x 1 1/2” D-rings
- 1 x 18 mm magnetic snap
- 4 x 1” scraps of interfacing
- 1 x 7” light weight zipper
- 4 x bag feet
- 1 x piece of plastic embroidery mesh measuring 5” x 12”
